Say hello to the Fordham Program

Let’s Get Ready would like to formally introduce you to our newest program, Fordham.

If the record high number of director applications—50—is any indication, we are certain this program will be a standout. From the massive pool of college student applicants, two sophomores, Jen Prevete and Gabe Agostini, were chosen to lead as site directors. Jen and Gabe wasted no time, diving right in, and were able to recruit all their coaches in one week!

Thirty-five students make up the inaugural LGR- Fordham class, which is generously housed at the Fordham Leadership Academy and supervised by our terrific partner Karen Evans. These students hail from schools that are in the Fordham Partnership School Organization, Fordham sponsored high schools, as well as several other area schools.

The program officially began a few weeks ago, and the students and coaches are engaged and excited.  In addition to normal classroom activities, they will be taking their second diagnostic test on Fordham’s campus and following the test that with a Fordham tour. A plan for a second college trip is also underway.

Stay tuned for more excellent news to come from this site.

Something’s different at the LGR program in Framingham

The Let’s Get Ready Framingham, Mass. program recently kicked off its spring semester. The program has all of the LGR staples: Two site directors, check. Coaches, check. And our highest program enrollment yet with more than 50 high school students, check. But this time there is also something new to the Framingham site: men…males…guys…dudes… however you want to say it, this program now has it.

The Framingham program has long been run through a partnership with Wellesley College — Wellesley being an excellent liberal arts college for women. But as this LGR program serves high school students of both genders we are excited to be adding some Babson College gentlemen into the mix. The importance and positive impact of male mentors has been studied and Let’s Get Ready is excited to bring their great influence to this program and the lives of our students. (Babson is co-ed and we are also excited about partnering with Babson ladies as well.)
The spring program will be run by our two amazing site directors, one each from Wellesley and Babson, and LGR is excited by what might pop up from this new partnership — new dimensions, different ideas and perspectives.
